Tan Yi Xuan

I have had exposure in Software Engineering during my secondary school days and had thoughts that it was a very trending and competitive market at the time. I figured that it would be better for my future career pathway since it does not rule out my interest to become a Software Engineer in the beginning.

Why did I choose Forward School?

When I was exploring colleges, many colleges offered Computer Science and teach almost the same thing, I wanted to stand out among my peers, and tryout something different. Because I was not very academically talented, I preferred something more hands-on and skills-based so that I need not suffer in studying theories. Then, I stumbled upon Forward School’s Facebook page and after talking to them, I was impressed and made my decision to further my studies there as they paid more attention to hands-on work than other colleges, and actually learning skills that will benefit my work in the future.

My Favourite moments

I liked the atmosphere of studying together with my classmates who are competitive and encouraging, as well as being alone in the campus during the pandemic, it allows me to focus on thinking and learn how to be independent since I am far from home and living in Forward School campus by myself with some of my roommates. I really enjoyed the company of the friends that I’ve made here.

After I graduate, my plans and goals are to become a Mobile App Developer as I’ve seen the impact that it has on myself and the community throughout the pandemic. I want to solve daily problems that people face through creating Mobile Apps to make life more convenient for people. With that, I would not limit my future to mobile apps, but also the things that I’ve learnt during my 2 years of study in Forward School such as Web Development and Data Science.
