When I was growing up, I’ve always been passionate about helping people live healthier lives. Nope, not as a personal trainer or a medical practitioner- not like that. But using technology to enhance healthcare.
Now, looking at how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is getting more sophisticated at doing what humans do, I discovered that its potential to transform healthcare is just vast.
So, after completing my diploma studies, I started my AI journey with Forward School’s Applied Deep Learning program in October 2020.
Throughout the 2-month program, I had so much to absorb -- from understanding how AI and Machine Learning works to deploying various Deep Learning techniques and algorithms for Computer Vision tasks. That’s how I found ways to implement Deep Learning in some of the issues I wanted to solve in healthcare.
And at the end of the program, I successfully devised an Acne Recognition and Diagnosis System as my capstone project together with my groupmates.
Projects aside, the trainers played a huge role in making my experience at Forward School enjoyable. I had the opportunity to tap on their experience as practitioners in the field. They provided me lots of invaluable feedback-- all which were useful in improving my project.
Today, I am a Junior Deep Learning Engineer in Skymind based in Penang. My work involves front-end web development and API integration for Data Labelling platforms. I look forward to learning more on the applications of AI in real life scenarios in the future.
